Peace Mennonite Home-Based Worship: April 25

Welcome to worship with Peace Mennonite Church. If this is your first time worshiping with us, please watch this welcome video from our pastor. You can find our church announcements here.

Whether you are new to Peace or a regular participant, we are glad you are with us in worship and invite you to join us for our Zoom discussion and prayer time at 11:00 each Sunday morning.  Simply click this link. We also invite you to our Wednesday night gatherings at 7:30.

This week we are responding to the request of Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) to join with others in a time of prayer and action in support of indigenous land defenders and water protectors. This service is in response to calls for support from Water Defenders at Line 3 in Minnesota.

Prelude: Stand Up; from Water Defenders who gathered at Standing Rock

Welcome and Prayer: “Prayer to God in the Risen Christ” by Weldon Nisly, from Christian Peacemaker Teams

Opening Scripture:

Gathering Hymn: Summoned by the God who Made Us, Voices Together #1 (Look for Andrea during the last verse!)

Congregational Prayer:
You are invited to offer your prayers to God. For what are you thankful this morning? What would you ask of God for yourself? Who do you know who needs God’s loving presence right now? What are your prayers for our community, our country, and our world?

Feel free to share your prayers with people around you, in the comments below, or on our Zoom call at 11 Sunday morning.

Prayer of Formation
By Peter Haresnape (CPT)

Liberating God, we acknowledge our brokenness,
And we welcome your healing presence among us.
Saying together:
Liberating God, form us today.

We have forgotten our original instructions,
To tend and care, to know and grow,
Form us again into your image.
Liberating God, form us today.

We have tuned our instruments to the seductive beat
Of war, of plunder, of dispossession and ignorance,
Tune us again to sing your song,
Liberating God, form us today.

We have denied and derided the presence of Indigenous Knowledge,
The sciences and spiritualities, languages and legal systems of Indigenous Nations.
Draw us a map to bring us to the right road,
Liberating God, form us today.

You have called us to Love, spoken Truth to us,
And shown us right Action, in your own Son’s hands.
Call again, and we shall respond,
Liberating God, form us today.

Hearing your call on our lives, we seek to respond.
May we emulate Christ, and become fully human.
Fully immersed in the naming waters of this world,
Fully awake to your indwelling presence,
Forming us to be your beloved community,
Through your will, our willingness, and the name of Jesus, amen.
